Ceramics.

Since the dawn of time cavemen and women have been digging up clay and making useful things with it. They made anything from pottery to arrow heads. I read an article that took place in the early 1900's about how a Bauhaus school in Weimar hired Max Krehan to teach a new ceramics class at their school. Krehan observed that his class of five students were very self efficient just like traditional potters. Other people had noticed as well and wanted to make plans to expedite production of their pottery. Many people were disgruntled about this idea because they believed that "the school is and educational institution not a factory" but they made plans for mass production anyway. In 1925 Bauhaus' mass production was shut down and in the early 1930's the school was closed completely.
I found this article very interesting because it shows how a little class of five students go from making pottery just in their class to doing it in mass production only to have it all shut down but yet it still greatly affected German and European ceramic design.
